I'm Conor Southwell, I'm 23 years old and have recently moved out to Colorado Springs in the pursuit of leading a more fulfilling, healthier life while I pursue my law degree.
In November of 2025, I went to the ER for one of the first times in my life with stroke-like symptoms and unregulated hypertension (high blood pressure). What was originally thought to be a matter of getting on medication and a simple lifestyle change to regulate my blood pressure has intensified to three separate hospitalizations in the past two months and two separate trips in an ambulance. I have been seen by multiple ER doctors who have been entirely unable to bring my blood pressure out of hypertensive crisis, while my symptoms have only gotten worse. My kidneys have sustained extensive damage, and I have been collapsing at home when I exert myself too hard, both of which have limited my ability to work or do the things that used to make me happy.
I have been told I need to seek regular care at a primary care physician and get referrals for a number of specialists, neither of which I am able to afford because I have been unable to pay for medical insurance, a hurdle that's only been made taller now that I have been advised to take a leave of absence from work, as well as racking up almost 8 thousand dollars in ER and EMS bills.
To be entirely honest, I'm scared. I know some amazing people and have been able to see some amazing things in my short time on this beautiful Earth we call our home; and yet I know I have only scratched the surface of all the wonders in life. I don't want to say goodbye just yet, not before I can say I made this world a better place while I was on it.
Whether it's being able to donate, sharing this GoFundMe, or just even praying for me and my health, anything helps out while I try to get the help I need to get me back on my feet and on with the rest of my life.
Thank you, and God bless you.
