My name is Crystal, and I’m reaching out during one of the most difficult times of my life. My son Connor and I are from Lincoln, Illinois, but we are currently in Memphis, Tennessee so he can receive chemo treatments for his aggressive rhabdomyosarcoma cancer. We will be here for the next 10 and a half months, far from home and the support of our friends and family.
Today, things became even more challenging when we lost our only car to an electrical fire. It was completely unexpected and has left us without reliable transportation while Connor is undergoing treatment. We do have insurance, but unfortunately after the deductible and the remaining balance still owed on the loan, we are actually being left having to pay out of pocket instead of receiving money toward another vehicle. It has added even more stress during a time when our main focus should simply be getting Connor through treatment safely.
The funds raised here will help us with travel, housing, medical expenses, and most urgently, replacing our car so we can get Connor to his appointments safely and on time. Receiving support right now would honestly lift a huge weight off my shoulders. Watching my son fight cancer is already the hardest thing I’ve ever gone through, and losing our only car on top of that has made everything feel even more overwhelming. All I want is to be able to focus on Connor and getting him to his treatments without worrying about how we’re going to get there.
