Help Connor get an assistant dog
Hi there, I am raising funds to purchase an assistant dog for my son Connor who loves animals lives with a degenerative condition called Friedrechs Ataxia and has recently had a life changing experience.
On the evening of the 23rd June, Connor went to his usual boxing fitness gym, whilst there, he had a cardiac arrest, the wonderful trainers commenced effective CPR and saved his life. When the ambulances arrived, it took two shocks to bring Connor back to life and a long time to stabilise him prior to bringing him to emergency.
He spent 7 days sedated and ventilated where we didn’t know if he would make it or if he would have any hypoxic brain injury.
On the 8th day he was woken from his sedation and thankfully with his youth, the effective CPR and supportive management by all the ambulance, emergency and ICU staff, my handsome 18 year was back to continue his difficult journey in life.
Although we can apply through the NDIS for support with ongoing costs and training of an assistant dog, they will not purchase the dog itself. So I wanted to be able to purchase an appropriate dog to have trained to assist Connor with various tasks but also to be his companion when he is feeling alone or anxious ( something that happens frequently with living with a degenerative condition and coming to terms with a life threatening situation as a cardiac arrest). Thank you in advance for your generosity xx
