Connie Pister, my sister, is facing a challenging time and needs our help. Connie has worked hard as a gig worker, delivering food and groceries, lifting and driving to support herself and her injured husband, Roger. Recently, Connie suffered severe injuries to both knees—her left knee blew out completely, with both meniscus torn, a torn ACL and MCL, and her right knee now has both meniscus torn as well. She is now bone on bone in both knees, with bruising, fluid buildup, and blood mixing in the joints. The pain is so intense that she can no longer stand on her own or get into her wheelchair without help.
Connie's health challenges don't stop there. She had a mild heart attack in November and is a diabetic, which limits the pain medication she can safely take. Roger, her husband, is also out of work after a shoulder replacement surgery and is currently on workman's comp. With both of them unable to work, their financial situation has become extremely difficult. Connie needs knee surgery on her left knee as soon as possible, followed by surgery on her right knee in a few weeks if all goes well. The doctor isn't sure if she'll be able to walk after the surgeries, but he will be removing the most painful parts, and Connie remains hopeful and faithful that she will recover.
We are asking for help to cover Connie's out-of-pocket surgery costs and to support her and Roger during this difficult time. Any donation, no matter the amount, will make a difference and help relieve some of the stress they are facing. If you can't give, please keep Connie and Roger in your prayers. Your kindness and support mean the world to our family.
