Help Godmother Rebuild After Losing Her Home to the Eaton Fire
Dear Friends and Community,
On Tuesday night, January 7th, my Godmother faced the unimaginable. After living in her beloved Altadena home for 50 years, she received an evacuation warning due to the rapidly spreading Eaton Fire. With no time to prepare, she left her house at 9 PM with only the clothes on her back and a few important papers, thinking she’d return the next morning.
But by Wednesday morning, her world had changed forever. A neighbor’s son, checking on the area, sent her a heartbreaking text: "My house is gone, and so is yours." Attached was a photo of her home, completely destroyed, with the steel garage door crumpled on the ground.
This house was more than just four walls—it was a sanctuary filled with memories of love, joy, and resilience. For half a century, my Godmother poured her heart into making it a home. Now, at her senior age, she is faced with the daunting task of starting over from scratch.
We are devastated, but we are not defeated. Her faith is strong, and her community is even stronger. With your help, she can rebuild and rise from this tragedy.
What Was Lost
The home held a lifetime of irreplaceable treasures:
Precious family heirlooms and photos
Daily necessities like clothing, toiletries, and furniture
Memories of countless family gatherings, celebrations, and milestones
Her house was also a beacon in the community—a place of comfort and support for neighbors and loved ones.
How You Can Help
We are raising funds to help Godmother rebuild her life and her home. Your donations will go towards:
Temporary housing and living expenses
Rebuilding her home on the property
Replacing essential items such as clothing, furniture, and appliances
Every dollar, every share, and every prayer counts. Together, we can show her the power of love, faith, and community.
Please donate whatever you can to help my Godmother begin this new chapter.
Thank you for your generosity, support, and prayers. Let’s help my Godmother rebuild not just her home, but her hope for the future.
With gratitude,
Godson Royce Porter
