Help Connie cover Surgery Costs from eye removal
Don protégé
My name is Connie. I am 42 years old. I was born with glaucoma and 90% blind in both eyes. I was given a bilateral cornea transplant at 6 months old, which gave me perfect vision in my left eye. I had numerous other surgeries on my right eye. After my retina had detached numerous times, my parents left the decision for another surgery up to me. I've been fully blind in the right eye since 13 years of age. I have never known a life without eye pain. After some severe pain and issues recently, I sought out a new doctor (the old one told me pain wasn't possible in an eye that had been blind so long). My new doctor explained I have injured the exterior eyeball. There is a scratch that has not healed right, so my eyelid is sometimes catching it and tearing it open a tiny bit more. I'm literally ripping my own eye apart by blinking. Doc said the only way to rid me of the pain and the odd sensation of my eyeball coming apart is to remove the eye.
I went 7/23 to meet my surgeon. 7/30 I had anesthesia clearance and insurance approval. 7/31 they removed my right eye.
i have discovered my insurance deductible for the surgery is $3,500.
I thought I would get short term disability but have been denied due to my pre existing condition.
I am asking for any and all help I can get, to get myself through the next 4 weeks and hopefully start paying on my medical debt.
If you can not help, please consider sharing this with those you know.
Thank you all in advance. As healing continues, I will update my photos to show my journey.
