Help Connie Fight Advanced Metastatic IDC Breast Cancer
Donation protected
My name is Jennifer Pritchard, I am the daughter of Connie Proffitt, I am an only child. She has been a single mother my entire life. She always provided for me no matter what the sacrifice. She’s worked hard her whole life. She worked 15 years with upper Chesapeake hospital (before it was bought over) and 14 years with the State of Maryland, amongst other careers between. She’s currently unemployed due to a recent diagnosis.
Recently, my mother received a diagnosis of Stage 4 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Breast Cancer HER2+, in both breasts and has spread to her lymph nodes also. (See update) Her specialists have said it is very advanced and we need more tests to determine treatment. Insurance only covers so much for treatment. We’re already having issues getting insurance to cover a PET scan, which is pricey out of pocket. So we are unsure of where else it may have spread at this time. My grandmother (my mom’s mother), who passed to unrelated circumstances back in August 2024, also had advanced breast cancer. I am pushing for genetic testing for my mother, as my daughter and I have to be prepared as well, for what we may face.
If you know me, you know how close my mother and I have always been. She is the only support I have ever had. I will do anything for her and I have done anything I can do ; Including utilizing all of my PTO to take her to appointments and I will continue to do so. She is also the only family member who has been consistently involved in my children’s lives. My son, who is high needs, is going to have a difficult time handling my mother going through treatments as it is. She will be staying with us for some time. Pray for her, myself, and her grandchildren as we navigate this difficult time.
Funds will be used for medical bills/images/scans/tests and potentially every day necessary bills for her during this unsure time. It took all I had to make this go fund me. It is the holiday season and I know times are hard for everyone. If you cannot donate, please share. Every little bit counts. We have a long road ahead of us.
Thank you everyone, for taking the time to read this. We are grateful for every single one of you.
