In late October, my beautiful, vibrant, energetic Aunt Connie was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. For months she’d been visiting the doctor with complaints about not feeling well.  Doctors kept sending her home with a diagnosis of acid reflux.   After weeks and weeks of her insisting on more tests, they finally found the cancer.  With the cancer diagnosis came a life expectancy of 3-6 months. 

While the odds of beating this type of cancer seem grim, Connie is not ready to accept 3-6 months to live. She wants to enjoy more time with her four children and family, who recently lost their father to cancer.  She has a loving husband she plans to spend her golden years with, and she refuses to let cancer take that away without a fight. 

So, the warrior that she is, Connie is exploring many options to beat this thing. She’s looking into conventional as well as holistic methods to beat her diagnosis, many of which aren’t covered by her health insurance. All of this is so very expensive, and finding the money for such large expenses is difficult. Connie has had to drastically cut down on her work hours, as the chemo often makes her too ill to go to work.
