Our family is asking for prayers and support for my 19 year old nephew Conner Karlovetz.
On Wednesday, March 11, 2026, Conner’s life changed forever. Due to being in the wrong place at the wrong time, he was shot four times and is now in critical condition in the ICU at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) in San Antonio.
Conner is only 19 years old and has his entire life ahead of him. Since the shooting, he has already undergone two major surgeries, and doctors have told us there will likely be several more in the weeks and months ahead. Right now, he is fighting for his life, and we still don’t know how long his hospital stay will be.
When he is strong enough to leave the hospital, Conner will face a long and difficult road to recovery, including extensive rehabilitation to help him learn how to walk again.
Conner does not currently have health insurance, and the medical expenses are already overwhelming. On top of that, his parents are staying by his side at the hospital and are unable to work during this time. The financial strain on the family is growing by the day.
Over the last several years, Conner and his family have faced many hardships, and they were finally beginning to get back on their feet when this tragedy happened. This has been completely unexpected and devastating for everyone who loves him.
As if that weren’t enough, the person responsible for this shooting has not yet been caught, and for safety reasons the family will also have to relocate in the future.
We are creating this GoFundMe to help support Conner and his family with:
• Emergency medical bills
• Future surgeries and hospital care
• Rehabilitation and therapy to help him walk again
• Loss of income while his parents remain by his side
• Basic living expenses during this difficult time
• Relocation for safety
