Hey there! We are an independent group of Concordia students participating in the international Biodesign Challenge: a competition that aims to highlight how design and biology can solve real world problems. In adapting to Tiohtià:ke (“Montréal”) problems, we decided to make a biofilter that removes lead from tap water, and in the process creates green energy! We believe this is incredibly important, as people exposed to heavy metals in drinking water are disproportionately lower income (often from marginalised communities,) highlighting the intersectional axis between pollution and class inequality.
In order to attend the competition and cover some lab materials, we need to raise some funds to cover base costs. We appreciate your help immensely!
Thank you,
