‘Curly dude’ Otis needs your help to safely get diagnosed!

Donation protected
Otis is a 2 yo mongrel who the vets describe as ‘complex’

Since coming home as a pup, he’s had episodes of wobbliness, lethargy, anorexia, and cannot keep weight on.

He’s not insured as he was under a subscription vets where everything was included…(I know, I was warned that it wouldn’t be as good as they were promising, but I’m a hopeful idiot who tries to believe the best about things) … and is now uninsurable as he has symptoms, a diagnosis of IBD and locating patella… and we’re still fighting for an actual diagnosis!

We are still paying his subscription while paying out of pocket for a second opinion at an amazing vet’s who have looked at him as a whole, and not treated me like a hypochondriac with Munchausen by proxy!

Over the past few weeks via trial and error of treatment of his actual symptoms, we have ruled out Addisons disease and primary hyperaldosteronism, and are now into the weird and wonderful world of treating for ‘Liddle disease’.

(Don’t Google ‘Liddle disease in dogs’ as Dr Google says dogs don’t get it, we will, however, listen to the wonderful vet with the actual medical degree who says they can)

The problem we have is there’s just no test for it because it would only be needed around once every 5-7 years because it’s so rare.

We are now balancing giving him potassium alongside a medication to stop him excreting all potassium… this includes weekly blood and urine tests, and the costs are adding up, we’ve already spent over £1500 in the last 2 months… but without the weekly urine and blood tests, we can’t do this safely. I have been told ‘yes you have a poorly dog on low potassium, but a spike in his potassium and he goes into cardiac arrest’

Please help me get my boy stable, happy, and healthy - I budgeted for a dog, but not for Otis!

He lives life as vicariously as he can, is a generally happy boy, and is loved by everyone that knows him! We just want to get him stable so he can live as long and as happy a life as possible.

thank you for any help you may be able to offer!

Immediate costs will be his new medication (this month has been £72 for the month at the lowest dose and this will be increasing) and his weekly blood/urine checks to make sure we don’t accidentally poison him! And funds raised above this will be for vet treatment only as he is not insurable
