Our sweet 5 year-old cat, Company, is facing over $10,000 of vet bills after being diagnosed with a peritoneopericardial diaphragmatic hernia (PPDH).

We first noticed something might be wrong when Company - named so that, when we want to go home, we can tell folks we have "Company waiting" - started losing weight. The vet prescribed extra wet food, but our beautiful girl still wasn't regaining what she'd lost.

On July 20, after noticing some gastrointestinal symptoms, we took Company to the emergency vet. During an x-ray, they noticed an abnormality near her heart, and after conferring with Company's regular vet and a specialist, PPDH was confirmed on August 11.

Gastrointestinal issues like Company's are common with PPDH, as are respiratory symptoms. If left untreated, PPDH can be severe and even life-threatening.

The estimate for the complex corrective surgery is up to $7,000, and the vet recommends an additional $4,160 of diagnostic testing to look for the additional abnormalities that are often present in kitties with PPDH.

We've been on a debt payoff journey for over a year, and we recently had to empty our emergency savings to repair Kellie's car. The timing couldn't be worse, but we will do whatever we have to do to take care of our girl. Thank you so much for your support.
