Help Como La Flor Mexican Food Re-Open Their Doors
Donation protected
Hi All,
I’m starting this GoFundMe to ask you for help rallying around Delia and her family at Como La Flor Mexican Food. I just learned tonight, that their electricity was abruptly shut off at the restaurant 3 days ago, due to late payments, and she has been unable to cook or open since.
Delia has been working her tail off every single day. Working 12 hr shifts from 9am-9pm plus extra time after close, prepping for specials to try to get enough foot traffic through the door on a daily basis. She has tried everything from weekly specials, outdoor signage, google advertising, uber eats, social media posting etc to try and bring enough regular customers into the shop, however as most know too well, maintaining a small business in this economy is extremely challenging, especially for a small family restaurant.
Prices of everything have risen, reliable staff is hard to find, and low foot traffic, means it has been impossible to stay up to date on rent, electricity and gas payments. On a typical day the restaurant only makes $100-$200 and recently on a good day up to $600. However it is inconsistent and has not been enough.
Back in March of 2024, the phoenix foodie community came through for Delia in a HUGE way and filled the restaurant with amazing community members. It was truly a blessing for her and they were able to pay off their utility bill and part of the rent they owed with the money raised in that weekend. Back at that time, someone in the community (I do not know who, so please forgive me) offered to start a go fund me, but she asked them not to as she just desired customers, not “free money.” She is prideful in the work that she does, rightfully so, and does not want to be a burden upon anyone.
However, what Delia doesn’t understand is that she is a light in this community. And many people will also be sad to see her restaurant shut down.
Anyone who has tried Delia’s food knows just how DANG AMAZING IT IS. And anyone who has had the pleasure of chatting with Delia knows how pure her soul is. She truly loves making food for the community. Every hour that she puts into this business is for her kids. It is her dream to one day make Como La Flor a franchise.
Although I wish there was no need for a Go-Fund-Me, at this point in time, I see only two options. Ask the community for support, or the shop most likely will not re-open. Delia has tried getting a loan to cover the amount owed on the utility bill, but she needs $3,000 to pay it off and cannot get approved. In the last few days she has been searching for alternate ways to make enough to get the shop back open. However every day she remains closed it is just pushing them deeper into the red as she usually relies on increased foot traffic on weekends.
My goal is to raise at least 3K to cover the electric bill and get the doors BACK OPEN. With hopes we can raise 10K to cover the additional expenses listed below:
-$1400 to pay the gas bill
-$2400 to cover this month’s rent
-$2400 to cover next month’s rent
-$315 so she can finally get a catering license. She has wanted to get one for the past year but didn’t have the money to invest in it. I know that having the capability to accept bulk orders will be extremely helpful to increase her monthly revenue.
-$500 so she can invest in an insulated food pan carrier and bulk supplies to get her started on catering orders.
Every cent that Go-Fund-Me does not take in service fees will go directly to Delia and her family to cover these costs and continue paying off the remaining $19,000 in rent and fees that have accumulated over the past year.
Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to read this. Absolutely anything helps, even if you are not in a financial situation to donate, just sharing this link with your friends or family would mean so much.
