Fear and confusion surround the situation in Ukraine as we watch from around the world, especially for those of us who have family there. We are inspired and hopeful watching the people of Ukraine defend their homes, but our family is also scared and heartbroken as we hear how it’s really going from family in Ukraine. Our mother’s sisters and their families live in Sumy, which is currently occupied by Russian forces. We also have a cousin working as a journalist in Kiev and a young niece who just started college in Kiev. Our dad’s cousins and their families are living in a suburb of Kiev. Shown above is our cousin Kolya who is fighting to defend Ukraine. Some family members have tried to leave but unfortunately no one has been able to cross the border outside of the country. They are all living under precarious conditions and need resources for food, water, and provisions, as well as relief from a devastated economy. We have decided to share a fundraiser with our community in Los Angeles if anybody wants to help offer relief. This fund will go to those directly impacted in our family’s communities in Ukraine.
We want to thank all of friends for supporting us and checking in on us regularly and making themselves available for us to unload. We appreciate you.
