Help Jacque White and 5 Kids Rebuild After Kerr County Flood
Donation protected
The July 4th floods in Kerr County ruined the home of my sister, Jacque White, and her five kids (ages 5-13).
To say Jacque has had a challenging few years is an understatement. But through every adversity, she's continued to build a better life for herself and her kids. Yet only a couple months before she'll finish her nursing degree, their home floods and they lose everything.
"We'll be okay. We're survivors." That's what my mom said, still evacuated and watching everything she owns go underwater, including the cabin they built for my sister and kids. But ultimately, she's right. My mom, stepdad, sister, and all five kids evacuated at the break of dawn (thanks to the Center Point Fire Department!) with the clothes on their back. Mom turned back ten minutes later to try and save their truck and trailer but the roads were flooded over. They managed to survive the most disastrous and fast-moving flood of our lifetime. And not a moment too soon.
When the waters receded, the damage was clear. Total devastation of my mom's property (that my sister's cabin is on). Her cabin was flooded AND knocked off its risers, ruining everything on the first floor and potentially the structural integrity of the entire building. Though my mom's home wasn't flooded, she lost all her property, including equipment at the ground level they use communally - the propery water pump + filtration system, washer/dryer, fridge and freezer.
First Priority: Immediate and safe housing for my sister and her kids. This may mean a short-term rental house or temporary cabin/trailer.
Next Priority: Repair and rebuild their home, which will take weeks/months to repair. If funds allow, replace the water pump, washer/dryer, and fridge/freezer.
Anything you can do to help Jacque and the kids out in this impossibly difficult time is so greatly appreciated! I'll keep track of the funds and make sure to communicate updates to show where your support goes. All funds will be transferred directly to them.
