Help Comfort Finish her Bachelor's

Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and friends of friends,

I am advocating for my dear friend, Comfort Dickson. For those who may not know this amazing woman, she is an active member and volunteer in Maadi Community Church (MCC, an international church in Cairo) and a dedicated community member. She has poured countless hours of her limited time and resources into helping teach and educate women and girls who have not had access to formal education. In addition to all she does for MCC, friends, and strangers, she also works 50+ hours a week as a copyeditor and private tutor to pay for her living expenses; she is also a full-time student. I have not come across a more loving and selfless person who does so much for others while not having hardly any time or resources for herself.

Since September 2016, Comfort has worked towards a four-year degree program to study Mass Communication in the Canadian International College, Cairo, Egypt. Her dream is to return to Nigeria and work as a policymaker and to help implement policies that cater to the education and health of young girls and boys, especially in the rural areas of Nigeria. She also desires to initiate public education and work programs to support low-income families.

The Need

For the past two years, Comfort has been awarded a super competitive academic scholarship to cover her tuition (only one student in the entire school receives this scholarship). Although she performed exceptionally well this last year, someone else got a slightly higher mark, and she is now without any funds to cover her tuition. This is her last year in her program and unfortunately, as of now, she will have to drop out of the University. She has no access to loans in Cairo, and she is entirely on her own when it comes to finances. Her father passed away a few years ago, and her mother is a struggling single parent supporting Comfort's two younger brothers in Nigeria. Comfort has not seen her mother for the past 5 years due to not being able to afford a plane ticket. All of her income goes towards her living expenses; for as long as I have known Comfort, she has struggled to make ends meet. She recently petitioned the University to help her with any loan or payment plan, and they rejected her request.

For those who want to support this cause

For the above reasons, I have created this gofundme account on behalf of Comfort. She is humble and loving and rarely asks anyone for help. Which is why I am reaching out to you all to help fund this hardworking, incredibly loving human being finish her education.

We are handling this issue one semester at a time. By NEXT THURSDAY (September 19th) she needs to pay 25% of her tuition ($3000/5 courses), and by December she needs to pay the remaining amount of her tuition. Please note that ALL funds are going towards paying her tuition for this semester.

I have witnessed and experienced Comfort’s incredible, christ-like service to those in need around her.  I have watched her push and struggle to finish her degree; let's not let her financial situation stop her.  As a community, I believe we can remove these financial barriers and help her to continue pouring goodness and hope into this world.

I want to thank everyone for taking the time to read about this cause and for your compassion. Please keep Comfort in your thoughts and prayers, and please consider financially supporting my dear friend and sister in Christ.

If you would like to know more information or details about the cause please email me.

Thank you,
Court
