Help Comet Get Back on Her Paws
Donation protected
This is my girl Comet. She is a 10.5-year-old Border Collie that I got from a shelter when she was 8 weeks old. She is the happiest, most playful, loving pup, and lives for adventure. She used to be completely ball crazy and still enjoys chasing with her little “brother” Odin at times, but she’s most happy these days exploring in the woods, taking walks, or swimming.
She ruptured her CCL and needs a TPLO surgery to get her back out living her life to the fullest. She was chasing after a ball with Odin, she caught the ball but then dropped it and came limping back to me. After checking her foot and leg for any visible injury and finding none, I called the vet and they made her an appointment for X-rays. Those showed her tibia is out of place, and her femur is not connecting where it should on her tibia... ruptured CCL.
I had a TKR in 2021, and my other one is wearing down and something is wrong in my hip, so I understand her pain as she is just trying to get through her day with minimal activity.
I had recently moved across the country with my pups, but my new job never came through with the hours I was supposed to have. I maxed out my credit cards while trying to find another job and make a life down there.. but only four months later I had to spend all my savings to get back home and get back to the job I had previously. Now my baby girl needs surgery... mine can wait. I don’t have insurance through my work and can’t afford any at the moment.
I can’t allow her to live with this, she is too perfect of a pup.
TPLO surgery is $5,600 .
Initial exam and X-rays were $700.
I know things are hard all over right now, any help would be so greatly appreciated!!
Comet and I thank you!!!
