Colwyn is an 8"years old boy.He was Born with an condition called Mucopolysaccharidosis type VI. Since Colwyn was 3Months Old he was receiving Enzyme Replacement Treatment at the Adelaide Womens and Childrens Hospital travelling each week from Port Augusta S.A. In 2012 Colwyn then started his treatment at the Port Augusta Hospital.Since early this year Colwyns condition as had complications.Veins are slowly starting to detoriating and 2weeks ago the Drs inserted his 3rd port to help with his weekly infusion.
Colwyn condition for Colwyn to live a longer life we asked Colwyn what he wanted to do and we as a family for Colwyn to have the HSCT which can only be done in Sydney. Being that Colwyn needed Donor for this to happen. The Bloods were conducted at WCH and sent away for special testing and came back with two of Colwyns family members was compatable is his Dad and his Sister Eva age 10. Eva being young we was very concerned and asked many questions. But Eva wants to do this for the love of her baby brother she said.
We are asking for a donation due to having family member that live far away from Colwyn and would love to be by Colwyns side when going through his treatment. There is accommadations that near the Sydney Childrens Hospital that we would like to stay at. and need assistant with accommadation,travelling and also keep our house in Port Augusta to come back to when we can return.
Colwyn and family will be looking at staying in Sydney for over 3-4 Months maybe longer depending on Colwyns condition.
About MPS type VI is a progressive condition that causes mamy tissues and organs to enlarge and become inflammed or scarred.Skeletal abnormalities, including short stature,and joint deformities that affects mobility.
Colwyn has suffered with at this stage carpal tunnel dysostosis,cloudness of both eyes,shortness,
enlargement of liver and spleen,spinal canal and also uses a CPAP machine every night to help his breathing.
Please help us to help better our son,brother and uncle to live a longer life.
