Hi everyone, I’m reaching out with a heartfelt plea for help. Recently, I rescued a one-year-old Dalmatian/Golden Retriever mix named Colt, who was posted for free on Facebook. If he hadn’t been picked up by a certain time, he would have ended up in a shelter. I couldn’t resist bringing him home and giving him the love and care he deserves.
Colt didn’t get the best start in life. He was purchased from someone who was later charged with 25 counts of animal cruelty—you can imagine what his early life may have been like. When I brought him home, he was struggling with severe allergies from food that kept him from gaining proper weight. He was so uncomfortable that he was chewing himself raw. Thankfully, after switching his food, giving him Benadryl, and doing oatmeal baths, I was finally able to get his itchiness under control and help him start feeling like a normal dog again.
Despite everything he’s been through in only his first year of life, Colt is incredibly sweet and loving, and he truly deserves a fresh start. However, shortly after getting his allergies under control, I noticed his ankle became swollen, and now he’s unable to bear weight on it. This is especially scary for me because I lost my Great Dane a couple of years ago to a similar issue involving a swollen bump on his front right wrist. Seeing something that looks so similar is honestly heartbreaking and frightening.
Colt has not yet been to the vet for this issue, but I will be bringing him in today for a thorough examination. I’m asking for help to cover the costs of his visit, any necessary X-rays, treatment, and his future neuter. Any contribution, no matter how small, would mean the world to us. Your support will help ensure Colt can heal, stay comfortable, and continue to thrive as part of our family. Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity. We’ll keep everyone updated on his progress. With gratitude, Chelsea
