Help Collin Walk Again: Urgent Medical Fund

Our son Collin is 23 years old. He is sharp, determined, and full of life — the kind of young man who faces hard things with quiet resilience. He's had to. His whole life, his body has tested him in ways most people will never experience. On May 7, 2026, it tested him in the hardest way yet. Collin was admitted to the hospital that day with a sudden, unexplained neurological crisis. Within hours, he had lost the ability to move his legs. He is currently paralyzed from the waist down, and despite weeks of testing, his medical team is still working urgently to identify the cause. This matters enormously for one reason: paralysis caused by certain neurological conditions can be reversible — but only if the underlying cause is found and treated in time. Every day that passes without answers is a day the window for recovery narrows. We are in a race we did not choose, against a clock we cannot stop, fighting for our son's ability to walk again. And we are doing it while standing at the edge of financial collapse.

Collin has battled serious illness his entire life — Crohn's disease, seizures, and a string of complex conditions that have brought him in and out of hospitals for years. Each crisis left behind bills. We managed them the way most families do: payment plans, credit cards, loans. We did what we had to do. But years of doing what we had to do have left us with a crushing load of medical debt — and almost no margin left. Now, as the bills from this hospitalization begin to arrive, there is simply nowhere for them to land.

We are not people who ask for help easily. We have spent years finding ways to handle this on our own. But this time is different. The financial weight of Collin's history, combined with the cost of this crisis and the care he will need going forward, is more than our family can bear alone. If we cannot get relief from the debt already pressing down on us, we face a financial implosion — precisely when Collin needs every ounce of our energy, attention, and resources focused on his recovery.

We are asking for your help — not to be rescued, but to be given a fighting chance to rescue our son. Funds raised will go towards paying off past medical debt, newly incurred medical bills, along with specialized care and equipment he needs to live without the use of his legs. It will also go towards the treatments and therapies he'll need to help him regain the use of his legs one day.

If you've ever been helped by someone when you needed it most, we humbly ask you to pay that forward today. Please donate what you can. Please share this with everyone you know. And please keep Collin in your thoughts as he fights the hardest battle of his young life.

Thank you for reading. Thank you for caring.

With gratitude and love,
James & Karen Fletcher

P.S. - This experience has shown us how many families face impossible choices at the worst possible moments. When Collin is well and our family has found solid ground, we hope to find a way to help others in this situation.
