Help Colli Fight Aplastic Anemia
Donation protected
Annabelle Coker ‘Colli”, a 4 year old from South Carolina, was recently diagnosed with Idiopathic Aplastic Anemia, a rare blood disorder in which the bone marrow stops producing enough new blood cells for the body to work normally.
Colli was first taken to her pediatrician on Saturday, August 14 when her mother became more suspicious of bruising on her body along with blood spots called petechiae. Colli was given a direct admission to the Prisma Children’s Hospital In Columbia,SC where a bone marrow biopsy revealed her diagnosis. Colli has already had 5 hospital admissions since August 14 and has to go to clinic 2x a week to receive blood/platelets to keep her alive. She & her family are waiting for HLA tests to come back from MUSC to determine if her brothers may be match for the only cure, a bone marrow transplant.
Colli is a bright light who has a love for Jesus. She loves to paint and draw, play with barbies and is the best sister to her two brothers. The hardest thing for her right now is being away from preschool & her friends.
We know that Colli doesn’t deserve to be sick but hasn’t complained. The nurses even fight over who will be her nurse daily because she’s such an “easy patient”.
Several people have asked how they can help. The Meals, gift cards and money the family have already received have been such a blessing! There will also be additional medical expenses, travel expenses, lost time at work, eating out on the road, etc.
Anything you can do to help would be appreciated.
