Colleen had a MRI related to back pain she was experiencing and received the news that no-one ever wants to receive, they believe she has multiple myeloma cancer. They saw large masses and lesions on her spine. Within just a few short weeks her life was turned upside down. She had a massive back surgery where spinal masses were removed and hardware was placed to support her spine. She has been in a lot of pain healing from that and now needs to have more scans, a bone marrow biopsy, radiation and possibly stem cell treatment.  Colleen has worked as a nurse for 29 years caring for our veterans. She has a 12 year old daughter she is still caring for and the bills of being out of work are piling up. Her husband has been at her side and doing all he can but the suddenness of going from 2 incomes to one and adding in medical bills and time he needs to take off to bring her to her appointments is making it difficult for them to stay afloat.
