Help Colleen Get A New Home

Hi! Thank you so much for checking out my campaign.
I'm Colleen a solo woman living the nomad life for the past two and a half years. I've been in Serenity, my 1998 Coachmen Starflyte, ever since I hit the road. She has been home to me and my two dogs, Gus and Trane, taking us from the east coast to the west coast and back again.

After taking a summer off from travel to workcamp, we hit the road again last fall. Since we got back on the road, we've depleted most of our savings with one mechanical issue after another. We replaced the water intake, the propane regulator, the fuel relay, the starter battery, the fuel pump, the bathroom fan, the shower, and the brakes.
Then a series of unthinkable events happened.
At the end of February, Trane became sick and died within 24 hours. A couple of weeks after that, I was hospitalized with A-fib, and a couple of weeks after that a semi-truck rear-ended Serenity.

Fortunately, I was uninjured in the accident. Unfortunately, Serenity was totaled. The external damage to Serenity did not look like much. However, the frame was broken which caused the fiberglass RV shell to pull away from the frame.

The entire kitchen cabinet pulled away from the wall as did the bed frame. The wall between the bed and the bathroom completely detached from the back wall. The emergency window frame was bent. The cabinets have started to fall. The new water intake was broken. The water pump works intermittently. And the water heater has quit working. Finally, the rear axle has bent.

Because of the pandemic and many people turning to RVs, travel trailers, and other van-dwelling vehicles, the cost of comparable homes has risen due to supply and demand. Finding a comparable home for the amount of money the insurance company wants to payout has been impossible.
We've found a skoolie that is within the price range of comparable RVs. This bus has already been converted and has a kitchen, a bathroom, and a solar system. She is move-in ready and will be a perfect home for Gus and me.
Purchasing this bus will not only provide a roof over our heads, but it will also help another member of the nomad community.
With your gracious donations, the money raised through this campaign will be used to pay for emergency expenses such as the paid campground where we have had to stay for nearly a month as well as the cost for transportation back and forth into town for supplies, paperwork, postage, and notaries. We need to leave the campground in the next few days as we have maxed out our allotted time here.
Some of the money will go to moving expenses including boxes for packing up our belongings, a U-haul truck to get us to Arizona where the skoolie is, and gas and hotels along the way. It will also make up the difference between what the insurance pays and the cost of the bus.
I will be documenting the move from Serenity to our new home in the skoolie. I have been documenting our journey thus far with a bit of a hiatus over the past year due to the pandemic and the events of the past few months. You can find us at Sunrise2SunsetRV on YouTube.
I've set the campaign to $5,000 to cover the expenses listed as well as a few repairs and redesigns for me and an aging Gus to be comfortable in the bus. As sad as I am about Serenity, I'm excited to continue on the road and am looking forward to this next chapter.
I'm truly grateful for every donation we receive and am happy to share this new tale with you. I will keep you updated here as things move along. If you have any questions, I'm happy to answer them.
See you down the road!
