Our dear friend Colleen has given so much of her time to her nonprofit work, her hair to St. Baldricks, and her heart and soul to the many animals in her life. But now she needs our help—quite literally so she can get back on her feet.
Several years ago, doctors told Colleen she would eventually need a total hip replacement. She’s fought hard to delay that day with physical therapy and exercise, but the pain has reached a point where even simple, everyday movements are difficult and exhausting. Walking, sitting, sleeping—it all hurts. And it’s taking a toll not just on her body, but her spirit, too.
Unfortunately, like many Americans, Colleen doesn’t have employer-provided health insurance, and the cost of private insurance makes timely medical care nearly impossible. But now, she can’t wait any longer. Her hip replacement surgery is scheduled for the end of April, and she needs your help to make it happen.
Here’s a breakdown of the known costs:
Pre-Op Appointments – $350
Surgical Facility, Overnight Stay, Anesthesiologist, In-Facility PT – $25,000
Orthopaedic Surgeon – $1,900
Post-Surgery Home Health & Physical Therapy – $860
These numbers are overwhelming—but together, we can help lift this burden.
Colleen is one of the most fiercely independent people we know. Asking for help—especially financial help—is not easy for her. But this surgery is her best shot at reclaiming her independence, mobility, and overall quality of life. She wants to get back to living (dancing, parading, and dog walking), not just enduring.
If you know Colleen, you know her strength, humor, and heart. If you don’t—trust us, she’s someone worth rooting for.
Every donation, no matter the size, brings her one step closer to walking without pain.
Can’t give right now? A share of this campaign means the world.
Thank you so much for your kindness, support, and generosity. Let’s help Colleen stand tall again.
