Hey everyone — I’m reaching out to ask for help for someone really special to me: my friend Colette.
Colette is scheduled to have facial feminization surgery (FFS) this January — a gender-affirming procedure that’s incredibly important for her mental health, safety, and overall well-being. But her insurance won’t cover it. They’ve labeled it “cosmetic,” even though we know this kind of care is absolutely life-saving for so many trans people.
Colette works three jobs to support herself. Yet, without insurance, she is needing to take out substantial medical loans to afford the surgeon, hospital & anesthesia fees.
Colette isn't one to ask for help. So now, I’m asking for your help in uplifting her.
If you know Colette, you know she’s one of those special people who always shows up for others. She’s kind, generous, and thoughtful — the type of person who gives her time and love freely, never asking for anything in return. I met her during a rough patch in my life, and even though we didn’t know each other well yet, she offered me support and love. That’s the type of person she is.
This surgery is about survival. It’s about helping Colette feel safer in a world that can be really harsh toward trans people — and about giving her the peace and confidence she deserves to move through life on her own terms.
We’re trying to raise enough to cover a portion of the cost of the procedure and the time she’ll need to recover. Every little bit helps — truly. Whether you can give $5 or $500, or even just share this with your networks, it all makes a difference.
Let’s show up for someone who always shows up for others.
Thank you so much for reading and being part of this.
