Litter Picking Fundraiser

Hi, I’m Cole. I’m 10 years old and I’ve been selected to play for the Scotland U11 Ice Hockey Team in Helsinki, Finland this April.

I was born into an ice hockey family, so I haven’t known anything different. I’ve had a hockey stick in my hands since I was 18 months old, was skating confidently by 4, and joined my first club at 5. Ice hockey isn’t just something I do, its who I am. If I’m not training, you’ll find me practicing shooting pucks, doing off-ice training to build strength and agility, watching NHL games to learn from the best or working on mindset skills. My dream is to represent Team GB at the Winter Olympics by the time I’m 17, and go onto play elite level in the UK and Europe. I have watched some of my older, fellow club members reach this level and it inspires me so much.

Ice hockey isn’t a subsidised sport, and international tournaments cost thousands of pounds. Travel, accommodation, kit, tournament fees, all add up quickly. Our governing body (Scottish Ice Hockey Association) has kindly announced they will match £250 of any funds I raise, meaning your support could double the impact, taking me to £500!

To raise money, I wanted to earn it, and do something meaningful for my community. I am going to litter pick my way around my estate at Torrance Park, Holytown on Sunday 15th February, and around the nature walks from Holytown down to Bell Quadrant, and into Motherwell, over the next few weeks. I’ll be sharing updates and photos along the way, to show the difference its making.
