Help Cole go to school
My 16 year old nephew Cole is severely impaired by an anxiety disorder which has progressed to a point where he has episodes of a near catatonic state. He is incredibly bright and has gone from being able to attend public school, to being completely withdrawn and finds it challenging to leave his home. Due to the severity of Cole's anxiety, he has been unable to attend school and requires specialized support to receive an education.
Cole is involved in medical trials in an effort to help him function. He is also involved in pediatric psychiatry and on a waitlist to be further assessed for other learning disabilities, meanwhile he is struggling to function on a daily basis. Cole's family doctor stated " This is the worst case of anxiety I have seen in a person Cole's age "
When Cole was able to attend school he would spend his class time isolated in a room by himself due to his severe social anxiety. His condition is not recognized for financial support and his public school does not have the necessary resources for Cole to be properly educated. As his Aunt, this breaks my heart.
This is where Cole's family needs your help. He has been accepted to Landmark East School in Wolfville, Nova Scotia which specializes in educating students like Cole, who suffer with severe disabilities. They are able to provide very small class sizes and a welcoming environment to help ease his anxiety, allowing him to attend school and receive an education. Despite Coles parents both working full time, the 1st year's tuition of $30,000 (50% of which is required by August 31st) is completely out of their reach without help.
Landmark East will undoubtedly help Cole and his family navigate his condition and allow him to be part of an environment where he can function and create a meaningful life.
Please help Cole get the education he deserves by helping his family afford to send him to Landmark East School for grade 10 in September.
