Please Help Cole Ryder Beat Brain Cancer!
Donation protected
Our brother, Cole, was diagnosed with Pineoblastoma brain cancer on March 26, 2021. Cole is 16 years old and lives in Ocala, Florida. He is number 4 of 5 kids in our family. Up until his diagnosis, he lived a normal life like most kids. He loves playing video games, collecting pokemon cards and amiibos, family game nights, playing basketball, swimming, watching the UFC, and most of all, playing with his dog, Charlie!
About 5 days before his diagnosis, he started experiencing daily headaches. He started vomiting and complaining of neck and back pain. My mom was afraid that he had meningitis and took him to the ER in the middle of the night. It was then discovered he had a tumor on his brain and was transported to Shands Children's Hospital in Gainesville, Florida.
Cole spent 24 days in the PICU. During that time, he had 4 surgeries. The biopsy showed that his tumor was aggressive and fast growing. Because of this, my parents were advised that the best course of treatment was to remove the tumor instead of shrinking it first. Unfortunately, they were not able to remove the entire tumor because of its location... but a good portion of it was taken out! Cole will begin radiation 5 days a week, starting next Thursday in Jacksonville. He and my mom will stay up there for the six weeks that he is in treatment. After radiation, he will begin chemotherapy back in Gainesville.
Our brother has one of the biggest hearts there is. He is so giving and always more concerned about everyone else than himself. One of his biggest worries right now is how much his medical bills will cost my parents. No matter what they say, he still holds onto that worry. He even was afraid that it was taking money away from paying for my insulin! That is just the way Cole has always been!
Cole has a very long and difficult battle ahead of him. This cancer is aggressive so his treatment must be aggressive. We feel that we have a great team of doctors that will guide us through this journey.
My sister and I started this GoFundMe account to help relieve my parents from the burden of bills that are already adding up. And I know that it will help give Cole a little peace of mind too so he can focus on beating this beast! All donations will be used for Cole's medical treatment, including long-term care that will be needed due to neurological issues brought on by the cancer. Donations will also be used to help with living and travel expenses when they are away from home getting treatment.
We greatly appreciate your consideration! Cole loves to read messages of encouragement! Even if you are not able to make a contribution, your thoughts and prayers are also greatly appreciated! If we could also ask a huge favor... please share Cole's story and share it often!
Thank you so much!
