Our son Cole is an incredibly kind, curious, and intelligent 9-year-old. From the time he was a baby, people have noticed his creativity and sharp mind. Cole has the brain of an engineer—he builds intricate cardboard creations, loses himself in complex LEGO designs, and brings his ideas to life in Minecraft with remarkable focus and imagination. He dreams of becoming a Formula 1 driver one day and is endlessly eager to learn how things work. Whenever I bring him into my school’s science lab, his entire face lights up, especially when he gets to experiment with 3D printing and hands-on creation.

This past year has been incredibly difficult for our family. In May, I suffered a severe leg injury at work that required two surgeries, leaving me unable to walk for months and dependent on family support just to get through daily life. Shortly after, my mother was tragically run over by a car. The emotional and financial toll of these events has been overwhelming.

Because of my injury, Cole missed out on the activities that normally bring him joy and structure. He spent much of the summer inside, unable to even go to the park because I couldn’t walk. I usually rely on income from my small mixology business to support his extracurricular activities, but my injury has made that impossible. While his father and I are doing everything we can, we are seeking community support to help make this opportunity possible.

This camp would mean so much more than just a summer activity for Cole. It would allow him to meet new friends, be part of a community of other creative children his age, and channel his energy into hands-on learning and exploration. He would work in small groups, brainstorm around topics that excite him, and be immersed in an environment that encourages confidence, curiosity, and critical thinking. Most importantly, it would remind him that even after a very hard year, beautiful opportunities still exist.
