Help Us Help Cola Get Back on All Paws ❤️

Just days ago, we welcomed our beautiful six-month-old rescue puppy Cola into our family. We are so excited to give her a loving home and watch her grow into a happy, confident dog.

Cola and her sister Coca were found beside a highway in Queensland as 4 month old puppies. After spending time in a pound in central queensland they were rescued by Promising Paws! After a month with a wonderful foster family, Cola finally found her way to us.

Sadly, just two days after arriving home, Cola climbed up and jumped over the balustrade of our high verandah in an attempt to escape. She fell approximately three metres into the garden and broke her hind leg.

After an emergency visit to our local vet and X-rays under anaesthetic, Cola was referred to Veterinary Specialist Services on the Gold Coast. The X-rays revealed a tibial tuberosity avulsion fracture involving the growth plate, a serious injury requiring specialist orthopaedic surgery.

Cola needs surgery tomorrow, and we’ve had to act quickly to give her the best chance of recovery. Because she is so young, the specialist is hopeful that her bone will heal well. She now faces surgery and a period of recovery before she can get back to being a happy, playful puppy.

The estimated cost of her specialist surgery and hospital care is between $5,649 and $5,838 at this stage. Further vet visits and follow-up care may also be needed.

The specialist requires a 70% deposit of the estimated treatment costs before Cola can be admitted for surgery and the balance paid afterwards. Without pet insurance, we’ve had to borrow the money to make sure Cola can receive the urgent treatment she needs.

We are absolutely committed to giving Cola the care she needs, but this unexpected accident and the associated costs have been a huge shock so soon after bringing her home.

We’re hoping to repay the borrowed money through this fundraiser.

If you’re able to contribute anything towards this we would be incredibly grateful. Every donation helps, and if you’re unable to donate, simply sharing her story will really help.

We’ll share updates on Cola’s surgery and recovery journey, so you can follow her progress as she heals.

Thank you for helping give this beautiful rescue puppy the chance to heal, grow and enjoy the happy life ahead of her.
