How We Started

Jeanette Reyes was inspired to rescue by a cat named Coffee who came into her life in 2015. Coffee was more than just a pet; he was a companion who opened Jeanette’s eyes to the needs of other animals.

While Coffee would eat by the front door, Jeanette noticed a stray cat lingering outside. Coffee spilled kibble outside his bowl, and the stray got some of them. Coffee did this again the next day, and the next, until Jeanette understood: Coffee wanted the other cat to eat, too. From that moment on, she couldn’t turn a blind eye to the animals in need in her community.

Since 2016, Jeanette Reyes and her family have dedicated enormous efforts to rescuing and caring for the most vulnerable animals in Manila, the capital city of the Philippines. Through their efforts, Coffee's Rescues has become a safe haven for over 50 cats, plus a pair of dogs. The rescues are provided with the food, shelter, medical care they desperately need, as well as the love and kindness they deserve. Jeanette and her family have also extended their care to dozens of stray animals in the community, performing Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) procedures to help control the population and give these animals a fighting chance at a better life.

How Funds Are Used

The fundraising goal is the amount needed to provide for two solid months of food and medications. Further funds will help buy in greater bulk or pay off debts incurred from veterinary care. Though mundane, these are the staple needs the rescue needs every single day. Guaranteed supplies for any length of time would be a big relief.

The rising costs of food, vet bills, and daily necessities have put a significant strain on resources. The situation is even more dire with the wet season upon them and the recent impact of Typhoon Gaemi. Living day-to-day to meet these expenses has become increasingly stressful and has made it challenging for them to continue their life-saving work.

If there is additional funding, it will go towards veterinary care, special diets, and medications. These expenses can be steep, but at Coffee’s Rescues, we don’t leave pets behind for being injured or sick. ❤️

Transparency

Coffee's Rescues makes available her records of their expenses, with budgets and receipts available to show exactly what your donations purchase for the animals. You can also view the proof of their hard work lies in the photos they share nearly every day—photos that capture the faces of the cats and dogs in their care, the joy of happy and safe rescue pets, and the humor and sweetness that keeps them going through challenges and heartbreak.

As for who’s writing this campaign: my name is Grey, or @greyallison on IG. I’m a longtime animal rescue person and have been a supporter and friend of Coffee’s Rescues since 2020. I am constantly inspired by Jeanette’s resilience and am hoping to alleviate some of the burden of asking for donations. The funds' beneficiary is Terri, another U.S.-based friend of Jeanette's. She send funds on from here and from U.S. Paypal donations.
