Back in January, a large mass was discovered in my right lung during an x-ray for an unrelated work injury. I quickly took the advice from all doctors to get multiple tests and scans done to determine the status of the mass. Thankfully, it was decided that the mass was a benign schwannoma nerve sheath tumor . However, due to its enormous size and unknown growth rate, it was necessary to remove the tumor before it caused any further harm to my lung and/or spine.
In late March, I was admitted to the Providence Portland Medical Center for thoracic surgery and the tumor was successfully removed. Due to the surgery involving the deflation of my lung during the process, I had to stay the night for precautions and to collect excess fluid drainage.
To my relief, there were no further complications and I was able to leave the hospital only after a 24 hour period, due to the incredible medical staff and the care in which they provided.
Although I'm gratefully healing up and finally getting back to my normal self, I'm left with a tremendous debt to which I can't afford. I'm still within my first year of achieving my bachelor's degree and working a job that pays only minimum wage, having yet to find a livable wage and career. With my already insurmountable school debt, this unfortunate hiccup of a tumor has placed me in a place of financial desperation.
Only if you can find it within your means, I'd greatly appreciate any help you could offer.
