Cody is the kind of dog who makes everyone he meets smile — endlessly cheerful, full of life, and completely devoted to the little girl who calls him her best friend. The two have been inseparable since the day she welcomed him home, and their bond is something truly special. Cody was adopted by the Mariani family in Feb 2025.

On April 8, Cody was rushed to the ER after suddenly losing the ability to stand or walk. Doctors quickly identified a dangerously low platelet count, and further tests revealed significant internal bleeding caused by a mass in his liver. He remained in the ER for two days under close monitoring.

Over the past couple of weeks, it has been incredibly difficult for the Mariani family to watch Cody slow down and struggle without his usual energy. Their sweet, joyful boy now needs surgery to remove the mass. The doctors are optimistic — they believe that once the mass is removed, Cody will make a full recovery and go right back to living his happy, normal life. While the nature of the mass is still being determined, the medical team feels confident about his prognosis.

The Mariani family has already poured so much into getting Cody the care he needs — over $7,000 in the past few weeks alone, between emergency vet visits, diagnostic tests, and specialist consultations.
