Help Cody Rusco Heal After Motorcycle Accident

Donation protected
Cody Rusco is the son of Terry and Shelly Rusco. He saved up his money and sent me (his Aunt Angie) a message telling me how excited he was to purchase a motorcycle. This was just 5 days ago. On Friday he picked up the motorcycle he saved for and on Tuesday morning a car pulled out in front of him while he was on his way to work. Shelly received the phone call from the hospital that no parent ever wants to receive. The past 36 hours were a nightmare. Cody was badly injured in the accident. He has a broken femur in multiple places, two broken arms from the wrists to the elbow, a bruised heart, will need plastic surgery on his left hand, and additional surgeries in his future. Cody spent several hours in surgery last night and afterwards the surgeon let our family know that this will be a very long road to recovery. He was moved from surgery to ICU last night and will likely end up at Mary Free Bed for his rehab. We were told to anticipate 6 months to 1 year for recovery.

With all this said, Cody will not be able to use his two broken arms or be able to walk as his bones heal. Which means he will be off work for an extensive period of time. He does own his own place, has two cats, and other bills that will need paid.

So many of you have reached out to me asking how you can help. Asking if there was a go fund me. When I brought it up to Shelly last night, she was hesitant as this is a lady who next to NEVER asks for help. And I mean NEVER! She is the one always giving the help! If you know Shelly and Terry…..you know this about them….they struggle to ask, but are always the ones giving! She will have a VERY rough time even accepting. A friend that works at the hospital asked me last night what she could bring Shelly in the morning. I asked Shelly and she said “nothing, I’m okay”. I told the friend, she won’t ask or even take you up on it, but why don’t you bring her a coffee.

As Shelly’s sister, I know she will not be leaving Cody’s side. It’s the kind of mom she is. Which means, she will also have lost wages through this time. If I can relieve any burden at all for her and for Cody…..I will do whatever it takes.

If you wish to donate and have asked about it, this is the place. The money will be set up directly to Shelly’s account and go directly to her and Cody. I am also asking for prayers in abundance! And PLEASE if you ride, wear a helmet! Today I can still hug my buddy because he wore a helmet and it saved his life.
