Cody Rhoades Road to Recovery
Donation protected
UPDATE: Many heartfelt thanks to those who have donated thus far! You have made such a difference and we can't express our gratitude fully! Unfortunately the situation hasn't gotten any better and the bills have begun to stack even higher. So we've stretched our goal for the time being to try to combat the expenses. Please keep sharing our story and spreading the word!
Early Sunday morning on November 28th, 2021, after spending time with family for the Thanksgiving holiday. Cody Rhoades (43) had a stroke due to high blood pressure, which he didn’t know was an underlying issue in his life. He was taken to the hospital and shortly after he was life flighted to the University of Utah. He underwent two brain surgeries to drain the bleeding in his head and to relieve pressure on his brain.
He is now heavily sedated until his blood pressure normalizes, and it is heart wrenching to see the needles and tubes in his arms and to acknowledge that the breathing tube, feeding tube, catheter, etc. are sustaining him since he is not currently in control of his body. Cody may be in critical care for weeks until he regains consciousness and the doctors can assess his condition.
His wonderful wife Haylee, and great kids Caden (19), Trey (16), Michael (14) and Olivia (12) are some of the best people you’ll ever know. They are hard workers and love spending time together and helping others out. If you know the Rhoades family you know they are genuine and sincere, and if you don’t know them, you’ll be glad if you get the chance.
Caden, the oldest son is currently serving an LDS mission in Texas said “My dad is the strongest man I’ll ever know, and he can’t open his eyes or form words. It’s crushing me. By far the biggest and best thing I have and will ever have is my family. These people are the most important thing to me and I would do absolutely anything for them.”
It’s only been a couple of days since the Rhoades’ life has been uprooted and there is a long road still to travel. I’ve heard a lot of people these last three days ask, “How can I help?”. A text, a call, a visit, a meal for the three kids at home, a prayer to God above on their behalf. The family feels your prayers. They are uplifted by your support and it is so needed at this time.
Financially, as the bills will continue to accumulate, if you can spare anything. Any amount will truly make a huge impact, whether enough for gas or food, no amount is too small. Thank you for supporting their family.
Also if you'd like to send money to the family directly over Venmo to @Haylee-Rhoades.
