Because of my broken arm, I lost my job—I didn’t qualify for FMLA, so I have no income while I wait for surgery next week and face a recovery that could last three to six weeks or more. I’m doing everything I can to apply for unemployment and look for new work, but in the meantime, I’m struggling to cover my basic bills. Rent, gas, electric, and my phone bill are all piling up, and I’m worried about how I’ll manage these essentials while I heal.
