URGENT: Help Cody Owens Fight for His Life!*

On February 18, 2025, Cody's life took a devastating turn. A 20-minute day surgery at Mountain View Hospital in Idaho Falls, ID, turned into a medical nightmare due to grave errors. Despite informing Dr. Taylor about Cody's latex allergy, a latex catheter was inserted, causing severe swelling and damage. The catheter was removed. The nurse could not find another catheter for two hours, causing Cody's urethra to blood clot. Subsequent mistakes led to emergency surgery to place tubes through Cody's back into his kidneys to drain them. During the second surgery, the wrong dose of anesthesia was given, causing Cody to have a pulmonary lung spasm, which led to lung damage, pneumonia, and a life support respirator. During the ventilator placement, adult tubing was used, causing unrepairable damage to Cody's throat, leaving him unable to swallow without aspiration. Cody then had to undergo two more surgeries: placement of a tracheotomy and a surgically implanted feeding tube in Cody's stomach. After the second surgery, Cody went sepsis two days later due to contracting two bacteria and a fungus from the surgeries. Cody's kidneys were damaged from all of this, causing him to now be on kidney dialysis three times a week for the rest of his life. Later, Cody's family was told Cody would never breathe on his own, swallow, and would be septic for the rest of his life. Termination of life support was suggested over and over! Cody was transferred to Utah, then to Boise, and now back to Utah. Despite all odds, Cody's family continued with prayer and faith in Christ that Christ would heal and overturn the mistakes of man. Cody, five months later, is breathing on his own, receiving therapy to restore his frail 61 lbs body and strengthen his throat muscle to learn to swallow safely at a facility that specializes in tracheotomy care. Cody is getting close to having the tracheotomy removed! Cody is drinking small amounts of thickened liquid! Cody is able to walk across the room. Cody gives everyone hug after hug, always holding a hand. Cody can be moved closer to home after the trache is removed. Cody's mother and grandmother share in the care of Cody, giving 24/7 support. Cody's mother is starting a 6-week, 5-day-a-week training on at-home kidney dialysis so Cody can soon go home. Cody's mother gave up a career she loved that brought financial stability to be able to care for Cody, leaving her at risk of losing her home over the $3000 balance to pay off the loan on her home.
