Our son Cody is now facing the second most challenging journey of his life. Cody is presently being placed on a 2nd liver transplant list after having his first one fail. Back in November 2024, he was diagnosed with PSC, Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis. After many weeks of being in the hospital here in Sarasota and Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL, he was put on a Liver Transplant List on Christmas Day with a transplant date of March 4, 2025. After undergoing his liver transplant, he has had a very hard go at it. Multiple return visits via transports back to the Mayo Clinic due to all his rejection meds. Later it was discovered that he had Lymphoma in 5 lymph nodes. He was then put under a 1 month regiment of immunotherapy for his cancer while staying home in Sarasota.
Now present day, Cody is once again at the Mayo Clinic dealing with rejection, anemia, and a host of other problems not to mention his 2nd liver transplant. While all scans showing he is cancer free with one still outstanding, there is the chance he may not receive the transplant. Without the transplant the doctors have given him 30 to 60 days to live based of his meld score.
Cody has also lost his job as a 911 operator which he loved dearly. While medicaid is an option and in the process of being applied for there is that interim care still needed. This is where Cobra insurance comes in. He has been able to receive cobra via the funds from gofundme but it wont last forever.
As a parent, it’s heartbreaking to see your child go through so much, and we want to do everything we can to help him get through this.
The funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward helping Cody and his family cover their everyday expenses, including car payments, health insurance, and mounting medical bills. In addition, the family has accumulated credit card debt from hotel stays during his time in the hospital, and your support will help ease that burden as well. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a real difference in helping Cody focus on his recovery without the added worry of financial stress.
Cody and his family would like to take this time to thank everyone for their support and prayers during this difficult time in Cody's life. We would also like to make a very special thank you to the Sarasota Firefighters Benevolent Fund for their help in the beginning.
Your kindness and generosity mean the world to us, and we are deeply grateful for any help you can provide. Please consider sharing this fundraiser with others who may be able to help. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
