My name is Jennifer. I am setting this up for my brother, Cody. On June 20th, Cody received unfortunate results from a biopsy on his tongue. The results were positive for cancerous cells. Doctors say he needs surgery to remove the cancer, and to see if the cancer has spread beyond his tongue. He will then need to have a second, reconstructive surgery on what remains of his tongue. Once he is healed enough from the surgeries, he will move to physical and speech therapy. This is not the news he was hoping for right before his 40th birthday.

One more complication is that Cody has been referred to a cancer treatment facility that is not close to home. He will have to travel for treatments. The initial evaluation with the treatment facility is $3,200. This does not include the actual treatments and travel costs. We will know more after the evaluation.

Let me tell you about my brother. Cody loves playing/practicing football with his 12-year-old son, and spending time with his family and friends. He is a board member of the non-profit organization that runs his son's football league. He serves as Equipment Manager for the league. He has not missed a single practice or game of his son's, and doesn’t plan to in the future.

He is the first to show up when anyone needs help. He relocated from Hawaii to Kansas to help our mother take care of our stepfather, who is a Desert Storm veteran with lifelong neurological disabilities. Cody will quite literally go to the ends of the earth to be of service to his family, friends, and community. Now it is Cody’s turn to receive some kindness. Let’s show him how much he means to us! We want him to have many more years with us!

Funds raised will go directly towards medical and reasonable travel expenses. Nothing fancy. This fundraiser has nothing to do with the recent tornado damage in the Kansas area. This is a family trying to help our brother, son, father, husband get the best medical care possible. To keep him with us for as long as possible. Thank you for your donations.
