Dear friends and family members, my name is Katelyn Brister and as some of you may know and others may not, my courageous brother, Cody Tyler, was diagnosed with stage 1 testicular cancer last week. Cody is a 36-year-old husband to Rebecca Tyler and father to 4-year-old Ella Grace and 11-year-old Jaden. 
He was working in the Houston area when he started having severe abdominal pain after working all day on November 6th. The pain was so extreme that he was unable drive himself to the hospital and was forced to call an ambulance. After hours in the emergency room and several tests, he was diagnosed with testicular cancer, a tumor in his left testicle, along with a kidney stone. After spending the night in the hospital, he went to surgery the very next morning to remove both the stone and testicle holding the tumor. He spent another night in the hospital and an additional night in a hotel because he was unable to make the four-hour drive home due to his amount of post-op pain. A chest x-ray showed a prominent lymph node in his chest which led to a need of additional tests with a CT of his chest and stomach. During his follow up with his surgeon, he was informed he has stage 1 testicular cancer. 
Cody is the sole provider for his family. He has been out of work since his surgery and his surgeon told him that he could not return to work until at least December 1st, although it could be much longer depending upon further test results. He plans to return as soon as he has been cleared to do so. Although insurance has helped, due to high deductibles and multiple co-pays, this has quickly become a financial burden for his family of four. Stress is already high with the holidays quickly approaching, but the piling of medical bills will place even more stress for this sole provider. Cody has always done whatever work possible to provide for his family, but now he is unable to do so. This is just the beginning of their long journey with medical bills and house expenses, as he must have additional tests to see the exact treatment that is needed. We are reaching out to raise money to help make this time as easy and stress free as it can be for Cody and his family, so he can concentrate on the most important thing—getting better. All prayers and/or monetary donations to assist with medical, travel, and living expenses will be greatly appreciated by Cody and his family.
