Hi!
Most of you probably know me as "Mom" or some version of that, "Cody's mom" or "Tony's mom," or a dozen other mom versions. Today, I come to you as Cody's Mom. Cody Hein was in a very serious ATV accident in Yuma, AZ, on April 22nd. They life-flighted him to Barrows Hospital in Phoenix, a 3-hour drive from home.
Today is July 9th, and he has had about his 7th surgery since being admitted with so many injuries. The worst being his TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury). We strongly feel like we have to have someone here (in Phoenix) to advocate for him, and if you read his process, you will understand why. His brother Tony has taken that on, and he is the best choice (also explained in Cody's Journey).
We have been at several Airbnbs. We don't have a car in Phoenix; however, we found an Airbnb that is close enough to walk to the hospital. We moved there on July 5th. Cody's dad lives in MN, and he flies in about every 2 weeks to spend at least a week with him. You can imagine that after 78 days, our finances are depleted. We are trying to run 2 homes with less income. We still have our bills at home. Plus, I am trying to keep Cody's medical bills and other obligations current. I did manage to get him a second insurance policy, and that will help.
Cody will be coming home, but it is going to be a very long road to recovery. Things look promising, but I hate the idea that he will come home to a huge debt and not be able to work for months to come. I know Cody has a huge family (shout out to the Mav family); their support has been amazing.
So the ask is, IF you can spare anything, please consider helping us get Cody home.
Thank you!
