Help Cody Get a Life-Saving Liver Transplant
Donation protected
At just 35 years old, Cody is an incredible husband to my daughter-in-law, Madee, and a loving father to his three-year-old daughter, Addie, and a loving member of our family. Madee, a dedicated nurse, has stood by his side through a challenging six years. Cody became ill on their honeymoon in St. Lucia and, upon his return, was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma, cancer of the bile duct, at 29 years of age. After almost a year of chemo and several canceled surgery attempts at MD Anderson, Cody went to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, where the most fabulous and experienced doctors performed a Roux-en-Y, removed his cancer, bile duct, dead left liver, and some lymph nodes. Mayo saved his life. Cody grew up in Sealy, TX, and is a fighting Texas Aggie Class of '11.
Cody is now battling liver failure due to what remains of his right liver after radiation and Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC). He has an external biliary drain that has to be changed out every six to eight weeks just to survive. His health has deteriorated significantly over the past year, leading to several hospital admissions. His quality of life has been difficult as he patiently awaits a liver transplant to save his life.
Cody is a wonderful, kind-hearted person who has touched so many lives. Please keep him in your prayers as we hold onto hope for a miracle. He makes multiple trips a year from Texas to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, for the drain exchange or when he needs urgent medical attention. He also faces the unbelievable expense of a liver transplant, prescriptions, moving expenses, lodging, and travel.
We also ask that you share this request with your networks to spread awareness about his need for a deceased liver donor. A living donor is not an option for him. If you or someone you know finds themselves facing the impossible situation of donating a loved one’s liver and they are A+ blood type, we humbly ask that you keep Cody in mind for a direct donation at Mayo Clinic (MNMC).
Your prayers and support mean the world to our family. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for keeping Cody in your hearts during this critical time and for your love, support, and kindness.
