Help Cody Cook Rebuild After Hurricane Helene

My name is Jadyn Henson. As many of you know, Western North Carolina recently got hit very hard and very unexpectedly by Hurricane Helene. Helene wiped out so much here; unfortunately, that also includes my big brother Cody Cook's home and garage.

If you know Cody, then you know that he and his family (wife Hayley and son Cade) are the type of people that would take the shirt off their backs and give it to someone in need. Despite losing their home, they have been nonstop doing everything they could to help those around them during this difficult time. Like so many here in Avery County, Cody did not have flood insurance. When he met with FEMA, they told him that if he did not hear back from them within 10 days, he needed to try and get in contact with them again. Unfortunately, it is looking like he won't be receiving any assistance in the foreseeable future.

Cody lost nearly everything, including his home. Cody had just recently, within the past 6-8 months, been working on renovating his home. He had just received the meat from the cows he had sent to slaughter, and he also had just stocked up on hay to feed his animals throughout the winter. The storm also hit his garage, which contained thousands of dollars worth of tools and mechanic equipment. Everything is gone now. My brother has worked his entire life for what he and his little family had, and it was all taken from them in the matter of one day.

Cody is one of the most selfless, loving, compassionate, and big-hearted people I know. Cody is the type of person that will not ask for help, even when he is in desperate need of it. In a recent conversation I had with him, he told me, "I may be beaten down right now, but I promise you I will not be defeated." That is the type of person he is. He holds faith even in the darkest of times.

That is why I am writing to you all today, asking for your help and support during this very difficult time. We know that everyone is struggling right now, but if you could spare absolutely anything, even $1, it would be more appreciated than you could ever imagine.
