On Saturday, September 23, while the family was away from the home, the shed went up in flames.
You might not think that a shed has much importance but to this family it is devastating.
From being Cody’s workshop/mancave, to storing the families winter items, clothes, coats, boots, their daughter’s trampoline, pool, bicycle and more, to housing countless valuable possessions of Cody’s, memorabilia and timeless keepsakes. The items lost are inconceivable.
Cody had plans to expand his workshop in a new location and is now left starting back at square one.
Cody and Stephanie are expecting a new baby in January and in the process of buying a home and accumulating baby items, not many of which were in the shed, however now have much more to begin to reaccumulate at the same time.
Those who know Cody know he is a hard worker, an avid handyman, artist and antique collector and there is no beginning to recollect all the items lost in the fire. Between antiques, collectibles, memorabilia, items he’s collected and held onto throughout his life and over his years of travel. The work tools, hardware and supplies he has accumulated and used in metalwork, carpentry, mechanics, body work and so much more.
Cody spent his free time, evenings and weekends in the shed surrounded by everything he loves. He used his incredible knowledge of history, facts and style to create anything and everything and give antiques and artifacts new life and meaning- from furniture, to art, to building his trucks.
The family would like to add that no damage was caused to the home or items in the home and they are just thankful that no one was hurt during this incident.
Huge thanks goes out to all of the supports, those who have reached out, everyone who called to report the fire, and to the summerside fire department for acting quickly to ensure the fire was put out and nothing else was damaged.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
While most items lost are irreplaceable, we would like for the family to be able to at least begin to replace some of the items. Any bit of help is appreciated beyond words.
Thank you so much.
