My family and I are starting a fundraiser for my beloved cousin Cody Rand and his son Jiraiya. Cody has been diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma, which is the most invasive skin cancer with the highest risk of death. Cody is the strongest man I know, both physically and mentally, but this fight requires more than that. Cody and his son are struggling to make ends meet financially and emotionally. He has to drive to UCSF (2 hours away) for treatments and is on the verge of losing his car because the funds have run dry, and his support network has been strained. Our family is a big one, but not a wealthy one.

You may notice from the picture that Jiraiya Rand has something in his nose. That's a feeding tube. Without going into too many details, Jiraiya was physically abused by a temporary caretaker while his father Cody was in the hospital for his sickness. It shattered our family's heart. The boy is on a good track to recovery but tragedy after tragedy wears on a human. No soul should have to deal with this much turmoil all at once.
