Help Coda Complete Her Medical Journey

Donation protected
Over two years ago, I self-funded gender-affirming top surgery to feel more at peace in my body. Unfortunately, complications soon after led to six months in medical limbo, ending in a double explant. Recovery was long, painful, and emotionally exhausting.

Now, after a year and a half of healing, I’m ready to try again. My surgeon is confident we can move forward more safely this time, using a smaller 200cc round implant (compared to the previous 300cc teardrop) and applying everything he learned from the earlier complications to reduce risk.

This isn’t a decision I make lightly. I’m anxious, but I’ve never felt truly happy with my chest, which continues to impact my confidence and mental wellbeing. For the short time the implants were in place, my body made sense to me in an entirely new way. I want to get back to a similar place - this time, for the long-term.

Why I’m Fundraising
At the time of the explant, I ran a fundraiser to cover urgent hospital costs and contribute to reimplant surgery, which was an absolute lifeline.

Since then, my circumstances have changed dramatically. Like many in my field, I’ve been affected by the collapse of the DEI industry, which led to redundancy from my consulting role and a series of short-term contracts. I now find myself without long-term financial security navigating the ups and downs of freelance life.

Further on, I’m the co-founder of TRANS VOICES, a creative organisation amplifying trans perspectives in spaces where they’re rarely heard. We’ve delivered projects I’m incredibly proud of – from a Barbican Centre-commissioned sound installation to a mainstage performance with Kesha at Mighty Hoopla. While TRANS VOICES continues to grow, it’s not yet at the place where it provides a stable and consistent income.

With all of this in mind, this fundraiser will help cover updated medical costs and give me a cushion for recovery, so I can heal properly without rushing back into work too soon.

Come Celebrate and Fundraise
As part of the campaign, we’re hosting Coda’s Implant Warehouse Fundraiser: Double D Guarantee or Your Money Back on Friday 29 August at Unit 7 Grosvenor Way E5 9ND from 9pm–3am.

The night will feature performances by Elouiza, Mantawoman, Fever Dream, and Syren Seduction, plus DJ sets from DJ Doll, Cherif Hashizume, ISHA and MIKI.

Whether you attend or not, your support through tickets, donations, or sharing the campaign helps me take this next step in feeling complete.

Looking Ahead
The reimplant surgery is planned for later this year. My surgeon has been thoughtful and meticulous, and I feel confident moving forward with this smaller, safer approach.

Thank you for being part of my journey.
