Help Coco fight ITP
Donation protected
Hello everyone, my name is Heather. My husband and I are fundraising for medical costs associated with emergency hospital care for our pup Coco. Coco was recently rushed to hospital on the morning of February 19, 2024 when she suddenly was showing signs of multiple bruises all over her body and a nosebleed. After numerous diagnostic tests, it was discovered that she was suffering from a rare auto immune disorder called Immune-mediated thrombocytopenia (ITP). This is a condition in which the blood does not clot properly causing internal bleeding. This illness is very treatable, and we and the doctors treating her are hopeful to get her on the road to recovery. But with the sudden onset of the illness and such quick progression of symptoms, Coco has required significant emergency and supportive care in hospital while waiting for the course of treatment to take effect and helping her little body respond by making platelets. We originally were told this process could take up to 4 days. And during this time, she would require constant supportive care in hospital to avoid blood loss. Coco however started to develop some complications early on meaning her hospital stay would likely need to be extended up to 7 days.
One of the biggest blessings that marriage brought to me in 2022 was getting a two for one deal with my husband and Coco. She was my husbands life when we first me. He brought her to Canada all the way from the Middle East and I quickly learned why she had such a hold on him. She is now our entire world and our family. To pass up the chance to treat her illness and not give her a fighting chance has been unthinkable to us given her prognosis of a likely recovery. And so here we are…reaching out to friends, family, strangers, to hear our hearts. Cocos medical bills have already exceeded what we could have imagined would be possible in such a short time. She is already showing small signs of improvement but likely needs up to one week in hospital before coming home. We are asking for your help to make this possible. Some of you reading this may not understand our decisions. And that’s ok. We respect that. But for those that have beloved pets of their own and if you can resonate with our choice to treat Coco’s condition when she still has so much more life to live, then we humbly and graciously ask for your help. Every little bit is a help to us right now and all proceeds will be going directly to Coco’s hospital bills.
Thank you all for your love, support, donations and shares.
Love,
Heather, Sebastian & Coco
