Who I Am

Hi, my name is Jay Hollis. I’m a retired dog lover living on a fixed income, and I’m doing everything I can to care for my two beautiful rescues, Coco and Carly. Their medical needs have recently become overwhelming, and I’m humbly asking for help so they can get the urgent care they need.

Coco’s Story

We adopted 8-year-old Coco, a miniature poodle, on September 12, 2024. She was rescued from a Korean kill shelter just before she was scheduled to be euthanized. The Rescue group discovered she had a previously;
• A broken tail
• A fractured neck
which, although not life threatening had healed improperly.
Most concerning was a Broken lower right jaw which required immediate surgery. A metal plate and screws were used to support her jaw.

Sadly, her body rejected the hardware, causing infections and constant pain. After two months of antibiotics, pain meds, and hand-feeding, she underwent major surgery at Lakeshore Animal Health Partners in Mississauga on May 14, where the plate was successfully removed.

Surgery Cost: $4,200.84.

But we’re not done. Coco now urgently needs:
• All remaining teeth removed due to severe periodontal disease
• Repair to the sinus cavity to prevent further infection
• Jaw stabilization (as she no longer has a supported lower jaw)

Estimated Cost; 2,325.01 - 3,233.11

Carly’s Story

We adopted 6 year-old Carly, a miniature poodle x from Texas on July 8, 2023. She arrived emaciated, dehydrated, covered in mats, tooth infections and blind in her right eye due to a cataract.

Despite her past, Carly has such a gentle spirit. But recently, she developed Glaucoma in her blind eye. Carly’s eye condition progressed rapidly and became painful and unresponsive to medication. Her eye was surgically removed at Morgan Animal Hospital in Niagara Falls, Ontario Monday July 21 2025.

Surgery Cost : $2,187.62

Plus, we’ve already spent another $5,520.00 YTD + on diagnostics, x-rays, meds, and follow-ups.
This doesn’t include food and grooming expenses.

Why We’re Asking for Help

We’ve always believed in Adopt, Don’t Shop, and I’m proud to provide them with regular care, grooming, and a loving home. But these back-to-back emergencies have pushed us beyond what we can manage, especially living on a retirement income.

We’re doing everything we can, but we can’t do this alone.

How You Can Help

Any donation, no matter how small, would be deeply appreciated. Even just sharing this link can help us reach someone who might be able to support.

Every dollar goes directly to Coco and Carly’s surgeries and medical recovery.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
