Help Cochise go to the Hall of Fame!

Donation protected
Robert Cochise Watkins ("the Barry Sanders BEFORE Barry Sanders") has been inducted to the Tuskegee University Athletics Hall of Fame for his exemplary performance on and off the field during his five years of sportsmanship between 1975-1980. But he won't be able to attend the ceremony without your help! He needs $1,000 to pay for flights and hotel in order to attend the ceremony. Please consider donating $10, $50, or $100 to help Cochise celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime achievement.

Cochise was one of the top three rushers in the history of Tuskegee University.  He was a 1,005 yard rusher at Tuskegee in 1977  and a wishbone offense that same year.

He also scored 42 points for that season. Cochise remembers Coach Scissom as a nurturing leader who would always encourage his players, telling young Cochise that he saw a future in professional football if he stuck with the game.

Watkins' crowning achievement on the field was being the only running back in the history of the Pennsylvania All-Star Big 33 Football Game to rush 105 yards--and still is, to this day!

He started his athletic career at Lincoln Larimer's Midget Football League, where Coach Tom Lewis's motto was, "HOW BAD DO YOU WANT IT, SON?" Cochise continued his enthusiasm and talent for football at Central Catholic High School in Oakland, Pittsburgh, where he was a 1,000 yard rusher as a running back/tailback all three years of his place on the team. He is eternally grateful to his teammates, Coach Scully and Coach Totten for their support and mentorship in his teenage years.

In addition to being a star athlete, Cochise brought pride to the University through his charitable work with Meals on Wheels and churches in the area. Cochise left a legacy of positivity, determination, and commitment for all to follow, both on and off the field.

The induction ceremony is taking place Friday, September 20, 2019 in the Kellogg Conference Center at Tuskegee University. Cochise will be traveling down Thursday 11/19 and staying for the celebratory weekend. He needs $1,000 to pay for flights and hotel in order to attend the ceremony. Please consider donating $10, $50, or $100 to help Cochise celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime achievement.
