Coastal Wilds Zoo recently faced one of the toughest challenges in our history. A severe blizzard swept through our area, leaving us without power for 44 hours. During that time, we relied on a few generators to keep our animals safe and warm. The storm caused several large tree limbs to collapse, compromised our fencing, and completely destroyed the roof of our lynx enclosure. It was a frightening and exhausting experience for both our staff and our animals.
Thankfully, power has now been restored and most of our animals are back in their main enclosures. However, our lynx is currently in a temporary holding area until we can rebuild his home. Our dedicated staff worked through the night, braving the cold and fatigue, to ensure every animal remained secure and cared for. This disaster struck during our off season, making the financial burden even heavier and the need for help more urgent.
We’re reaching out to our community and animal lovers everywhere for support. Your donation will help us rebuild the lynx enclosure, repair damaged fencing, and cover emergency expenses that have arisen from this unexpected event. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us closer to restoring safety and comfort for our animals. Thank you for standing with us and helping Coastal Wilds recover.
